2012 was a very interesting and exciting year for the Philadelphia 76ers. While they traded their once franchise player, Andre Iguodala, they picked up another in Andrew Bynum. They also shocked the world when the eighth seeded Sixers advanced to the second round of the NBA Playoffs and pushed the Boston Celtics to a 7 game series. 2012 also held good things for Evan Turner and Jrue Holiday, as they are finally living up to expectations and putting up great numbers this season. The Sixers may be 14-17 and have not dominated 2012, but what does 2013 hold for the young Sixers?
*Note: This was made guessing that Andrew Bynum would return and NOT be 100% healthy around February or March.
January is going to be a key month for the 76ers. It may mark the return of Andrew Bynum, it may not. Either way, they need to get off to a good start to 2013, and I believe thew will. They must take advantage of having more home games. This schedule is not easy, but it is not too difficult either.
14 games. 6 away games, 8 home games.
Predicted Wins: Los Angeles Lakers, Phoenix Suns, Brooklyn Nets, Toronto Raptors(2), Houston Rockets, New Orleans Hornets,Milwaukee Bucks, Washington Wizards
Predicted Losses:Oklahoma City Thunder, San Antonio Spurs(2), New York Knicks, Memphis Grizzlies
Predicted January record:9-5
Predicted overall record:23-22
Once again, the Sixers will have more home games than away games and will really need to take advantage of this. They face some tough opponents this month, but I expect them to get big wins over the Pacers and Knicks. This schedule is a little less compact which may help them be ready for a wild March.
11 games. 4 away games, 7 home games.
Predicted wins:Sacramento Kings,Orlando Magic, Indiana Pacers, Charlotte Bobcats, Minnesota Timberwolves, New York Knicks, Orlando Magic
Predicted losses: Los Angeles Clippers,Milwaukee Bucks,Miami Heat, Chicago Bulls
Predicted February record:7-4
Predicted overall record:30-27
March is easily the toughest month for the Sixers this whole season. They will have to play more away games than home games and play very good teams. I have them coming out of the month going 8-9, and that may be wishful thinking. If Andrew Bynum is healthy by March though, who knows.
17 games.9 away games, 8 home games.
Predicted wins: Washington Wizards,Orlando Magic,Portland Trailblazers,Denver Nuggets,Sacramento Kings,Milwaukee Bucks, Cleveland Cavaliers, Charlotte Bobcats
Predicted losses: Golden State Warriors, Boston Celtics, Atlanta Hawks, Miami Heat(2), Brooklyn Nets,Indiana Pacers, Los Angeles Clippers, Utah Jazz
Predicted March record:8-9
Predicted overall record:38-36
April will be the deciding factor if the Sixers make the playoffs or not, no doubt. Even with 7 road games, I believe they will win 5 out of 9 games and grab the #7 seed in the playoffs. With the injuries this team has been dealing with, I think a 43-39 record and a playoff spot is just fine. If Andrew Bynum is completely healthy, the #2 seed better look out.
9 games. 7 away games, 2 home games.
Predicted wins:Charlotte Bobcats, Atlanta Hawks,Washington Wizards, Cleveland Cavaliers,Detroit Pistons
Predicted losses: Atlanta Hawks, Miami Heat, Brooklyn Nets, Indiana Pacers
Predicted April record:6-3
Final Predicted record:43-39
Predicted playoff seeding:7th seed
