What are your thoughts about this 27 Year old rookie? Born in San Antonio, Texas, Listed as 6'8, 230 lb PF he went undrafted in the 2007 NBA Draft, then going on to play 2 years in the D-League before leaving to Korea for another 2 years then returning back to the D-League, going to Puerto Rico and being signed by the Atlanta Hawks in December. #44 almost led the Hawks in a victory against the HEAT last night.

Interesting fact about him: He was banned from Korea for flipping off an official.

Ivan Johnson Banned From KBL Forever

By Yi Whan-woo

Korea Times Intern

Forward Ivan Johnson of the KCC Egis was banned from playing in the Korean Basketball League (KBL) for life on Thursday for unsportsmanlike conduct.

The disciplinary committee decided to ban Johnson and fine him five million won for an obscene gesture he made at a referee in Game 6 of the KBL championship series against the Ulsan Mobis last Sunday.

The 23-year-old also had evoked criticism for provoking Ulsan Mobis players during and after the game.

"Taking an action against Johnson was inevitable since he had a record of frequent misconducts in the past," a KBL official said.

The Egis forward had already been fined six million won for provoking the Mobis players and flipping off Mobis head coach Yoo Jae-hak in Game 4 on April 8.

Johnson tripped Kim Dong-woo and Ham Ji-hoon of the Mobis when the two were heading to the bench during a time-out, which led to a bench-clearing brawl. He went further by giving the finger to Mobis coach Yoo Jae-hak after the Egis lost 90-87.

Johnson was first given a four million fine for flipping off an ET Land Elephant player on February 11.

KBL has banned four players in the past for unsportsmanlike behaviors. LG Sakers center Pervis Pasco hit a referee in the 2007 season, and KT&G Kites forward Calvin Warner, and SK Knights forward Terrence Shannon and center Deangelo Collins took narcotic substances during the 2009 season.

The kids a beast. As he continues to prove that he's consistent, he'll continue to get more and more minutes. He's athletic, and has a great offensive game. He's mobile for a big man, which allows him to get to the rim which you just saw on that and-1 drive. Absolutely great potential.

Thank you for creating that thread... when I was watching that Heat Vs Hawks game yesterday, I was telling my friend, who doesn't know ball as much as I do that Ivan Johnson has a lot of potential and how good he's playing against the Heat! He was aggressive on Defense, pushing Bosh away from his comfort zone, he was very aggressive on offense also where he got good, strong buckets.... man this guy has a good future if he keeps it up
