One source close to the situation told ESPN.com's Marc Stein that the Portland Trail Blazers were forced to waive oft-injured center Greg Oden -- selected No. 1 overall in the 2007 draft over Kevin Durant -- to help create sufficient roster space to accommodate all the players Portland acquired in separate trades with New Jersey and Houston on Thursday.
The Blazers also waived young center Chris Johnson.

Thabeet is a great defensive C, who can be a great presence in the paint and clears out the boards. Basically a poor version of Ben at 7'3.

I think this is great for them honestly.
He was useless, always injured. what's the point of having somebody on the roster who doesn't even play lol?
