Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo is a fiercely loyal teammate, who will evidently come to the defense of his squad no matter the circumstances. Rondo is also very clever when it comes to maximizing his time away from the court — Rajon said that he went to Mexico when the NBA suspended him for a pair of games. Per the Boston Globe: “You figured Rajon Rondo wouldn’t return from his two-game suspension contrite or apologetic, and he didn’t. Rondo spoke to the media Tuesday for the first time since being suspended for fighting with Brooklyn’s Kris Humphries last Wednesday, and he offered little remorse. Rondo is eligible to return Wednesday against the Minnesota Timberwolves, The Celtics went 1-1 in his absence. ‘I wanted to be out there with my teammates but, obviously, a two-game suspension … like I said, I was glued in front of the TV,’ said Rondo, who told reporters he went to Mexico during the break. ‘Hopefully I don’t feel too winded tomorrow. I think I’ve been off for about a week now. We’ll see tomorrow.’ [...] When asked if there was a lesson to be learned from his third suspension in nine months, he flatly said: ‘No.’ Rondo did say he missed being around his teammates. ‘It was difficult,’ he said, ‘I love being around the guys. I love coming into practice and being around them on the team plane, but I had to miss that for a couple of days. But other than that, everything is back to normal.’”

Dafuq is this guy doing in the middle of the season? Why is he not with his team?

Damn so the NBA makes you go to mexico when you get suspended now? Haha. That sucks. I didn't know you couldn't be with your teammates including outside of NBA games while being suspended.

Going on vaction during the middle of season and leaving your team? I guess that's just the deep teammate bond us non-celtic fans know nothing about.

During a suspension he can't be on the bench or with the team on gameday- he can't even be in the building...

If this doesn't affect his game, his teammates or the coaching staff then I am cool with this-
At least he was open about it-
I think it would have been much, much worse if he had tried to hide it or had lied about it...

That's just my take on it...

Why do you love this game? :dribble:

Maybe he was told to go there? or at least to get away from it for a few days.

I don't see what is wrong with this. "Dafuq is this guy doing"...?

You tell me lol. Why so critical

You are acting like he did something wrong... Like he is being a bad teammate but apparently have forgotten how he got that suspension in the first place.

And the fact that he didn't have anything to hide proves that this isn't a big deal at all, but the OP suggests otherwise.

Oh nevermind, I got why you made this thread.

A player that isn't allowed to be with his teammates isn't allowed to travel. Ever thought maybe he was told to get away?

And some think he isn't a leader...

Good for him! Hope he had a blast.

Rondo is a beast and he never misses practice from what I know.. so a couple days in Mexico won't hurt anybody!

It's a good point that this may have been just what he needed at this point in time...

To clear his head-
To get himself "grounded"
So that he can avoid further suspensions as the season goes on...

Even if you don't like Rondo, he is the engine for the Celtics and the team seems to go as Rondo goes...

Why do you love this game? :dribble:

Because the only way Rondo is a leader is due to him helping out bradley, right?

Pierce talks on the court to his teammates, doesn't mean hes the leader IJS

And can you even practice while being suspended? I'm not even sure you can do that. I'll assume you can't. Even if you could, how do you know Doc/ Danny didn't tell Rondo to take a trip and just get away?

Same, people are extremely critical of Rondo, and apparently LOVE to question his leadership when it is undeniable.

Pierce and KG and Doc and Danny Ainge have openly stated that Rondo is indeed the leader. Don't forget Terry.

Your argument for Rondo being a leader was that he helped his teammates and they stayed in his hotel room, that means hes a good friends not a good leader, Michael was a great leader but i just cant imagine him calling Steve kerr when he had problems or Michaels teammates staying in his hotel room during road games.

Thank you for telling me what my argument is. Leaving out all the good parts, and telling me about 5% of the actual argument.

You are pretty good at that. Take all the meat off the bone.

I'm not going to debate something so obvious. I've thrown the quotes on different threads about 10 times. Just raw facts that he is the leader. No need.

What is next?;
"Rajon Rondo went to dinner and forgot to say thank you to the waiter"

"And people still think he is still a leader?!"

I'm done.
