When Steve Nash signed with the Los Angeles Lakers, a source says he was promised that Pau Gasol would not be traded.
Nash was also considering offers from the Raptors and Knicks.
When Nash returns and plays with Gasol, the Lakers could conceivably ask him to reconsider.
Nash signed with the Lakers prior to their acquisition of Dwight Howard.
With Gasol struggling, his name has surfaced in trade speculation.

Very interesting. I wonder how the Lakers could have known they were gonna get Dwight without giving up Pau?

Nash has bigger worries than Gasol.

His own legal issues with his ex and his kids, along with his injury that is taking longer than expected to heal.

If Jim Buss wasn't running things than I think that promise would hold firm.

Nowadays...

When they signed Nash, a lot of sources had said that the Lakers were done trying to deal for D12. Apparently they'd been out and the Magic just offered them a last ditch offer to blow up the team.

Nash should have gone to the Knicks but I'm relieved he didn't.

What do you think needs to happen for LA to turn it around?

If Gasol gets traded this team has no chance of a championship for quite awhile. I have a feeling they will get the worse end of the trade.

I heard that the Lakers have gotten two trade proposals from Minnesota and Toronto. Minnesota would be giving up D.Williams and Nikola Pekovic, Toronto would be giving Kleiza, Calderon and Bargnani. For the Lakers the only good one is Toronto but only for Calderon and possibly Kleiza. Bargnani sucks ass. As you can see the Lakers won't get ripped of so much but I have the same thought as you. They should keep Gasol and just hope for the best IMO.
