Barring any unforeseen injuries and assuming he plays the same amount of games a year he does currently.

He definitely can and I believe he will retire as the best scorer ever... He's already at 10k

I think so. Like swish said, I think he'll go down as possibly the best scorer ever.

Yeah, he probably will.

He entered the league just one year older than Kobe and he averaged 20+ from his first season while Kobe averaged more than 20 in his 4th season.
Especially if he starts taking more shots than he does, he'll sure make it.

Maybe. Even though he isn't a great volume scorer, he's really efficient. If he remains in okc (playing on a team with 2 other people that score over 20 consistently) then yeah. If okc adds better role players or if he changes teams, i'm not sure

I think if he keeps it up he can finish as maybe the greatest scorer ever. If he really scores prolifically he can even reach 40k, that is if he has maybe 5-8 seasons of 30+ ppg. Somewhat far fetched, but possible. I think the only thing that might hold him back a little is Russell Westbrook taking more shots than him. If Westbrook settles down and KD shoots the most, I think he can easily get there.

I think KD will get there before Kobe, but I think LeBron will do it at an earlier age than Kobe and KD. LeBron came in a year before KD and at 27 is almost at 20,000 points.

Yeah but the position he was put into had a lot to do with that. Kobe is one of the best volume scorers of all time, he isn't as efficient but he's had a lot of high scoring games, and from 05-07 he would score 35-40 once a week or so. It took KD like 9 games to get his first 30 point game this season

It doesn't matter if you ocassionally score 40, 50 or 60. At the end of the day, the average is what matters and if the scoring champion (Durant) ain't a great volume scorer, then no one is.
He's a great volume scorer who also shoots in high efficiency.

He almost definitely will, he's still very young, and barely even in his prime yet. Natural scorers like him don't come along very often, and he can drop 25-30 without even thinking about it.

Calm down, Kareem is a hard feat to chase.

If KD stays healthy and plays long enough, keeps this pace consistent, then yeah he'll get there in due time.

You have to remember how old Kobe is too, and that Kobe started at an earlier age than Durant did.

No offense but the pretenses of this thread are the dumbest ever. Of course if he doesn't get injured and keeps playing the same amount of games he will reach 30k before Kobe because he is already ahead pace wise......so yes if he maintains his current pace and there aren't NBA lockouts and/or him getting hit by a bus then he will be the youngest or just behind LeBron to every major milestone (the strike shortened season hurt him, that and having to play one year of college but he should catch LBJ on point related scoring at some point)

No need for that, if it was dumb then just let it be, no one else said anything they just answered the question...

He has a chance... but no way in hell will Durant go down as the best scorer ever.

I would've hoped his circle jerk died down after the Finals, but unfortunately not it seems...

You talk about the series where he scored 30 ppg on 55%, on LeBron and Battier?!
