Look at all the other PGs that are outplaying him this season.
D will: 16.7PPG (38%) 8.5APG 3RPG and 2.8 TO per game. His Team record is 12-9
Westbrook: 21.1PPG (41%) 8.5APG 4.8RPG and 3.3 TO. 18-4 record
Rondo : 13.2PPG (51%) 12.9APG 5.2RPG and 3.5 TO. 12-9 record
Kyrie Irving : 22.2PPG(46%) 5.9APG 3.7RPG and 3.9 TO 5-18 record ( He didn't play in about 8 of those losses)
Chris Paul: 16.3PPG (47%) 9.1 APG 3.5RPG and 2.2 TO. 16-6 record

Yeah, he is kinda garbage right now but you can't just take away the skill and abillity he has; he is in a slump right now.
But yes right now he is not top 5.
My top 5:
1. Chris Paul
2. Rajon Rondo
3. Russell Westbrook
4. Tony Parker
5. Kyrie Irving

I haven't watched many Brooklyn games this year, but knowing he has scoring options everywhere on the team makes his numbers a bit odd.
I can only assume Deron is effected by the bad shooting of Joe Johnson and that Johnson likes to handle the rock a lot. Turning Williams into a spot up shooter which isn't his strength. He's a far better scorer off the dribble and in a rhythm.
I don't know. I can only guess.

PG is a position were teammates really make an effect on the numbers for a PG.

only thing is, Williams has been a terrible shooter every since he landed in NJ. I know ppl have been making excuses for his poor FG% but the sample size is ever grown and his FG% is still bad. D-Will greatly benefitted from Jerry Sloan's system IMO.

It's sad when a shot jacker like Brandon Jennings is shooting a higher FG% than you.

5. Kyrie Irving
A slump that has lasted for 2 years?

Williams was such a perfect fit for that offense. Sucks how everything fell apart and Sloan's resignation.only thing is, Williams has been a terrible shooter every since he landed in NJ. However, it's not like Avery Johnson couldn't implement the same offense, unless Deron for whatever reason is really against the Flex offense.
Like I said, it's kind of odd that he's plummeted in shooting so much. I haven't watched enough of Deron in NJ/BK enough to understand what's going on with him.
He even made the All-Star team last season, picked by coaches no less. So maybe they see something that I haven't picked up on.

IMO, he still is a top five point guard overall, but Irving is catching up to him rapidly.

He dropped to #5 because of his terrible shooting percentage. However, people don't realize is that Deron is playing through two injuries on his right shooting arm. It doesn't help that he's basically a spot up shooter, and his shots are a bit off. He doesn't attack the basket and create for himself of the dribble (in terms of looking for his own shot) as he used to before and that has also taken a bit at his efficiency.
Even when he attacks the basket, the D is so focused on him and he makes the assists. Before his FG% was somewhat decent (42-44%), I'd say he was in the discussion for #1 PG in the league. I still think he can get back, but he needs to find ways to get closer to the basket because those missed shots are effecting his confidence when ever he pulls up for another shot which has proved to be an issue.

So basically D-Will have been injured since he joined the Nets? Because that's been the excuse for his poor shooting ever since his arrival
also not sure how you can say he'd be number #1 or in consideration with a slightly better FG%. HIs defence is mediocre to pedestrian at best as well.
