In a swift response to Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade's kick to the groin of Charlotte Bobcats guard Ramon Sessions, the NBA has suspended Wade one game as punishment for the incident on Wednesday night.
Yahoo! Sports's Adrian Wojnarowski first reported Wade's suspension Thursday, a day after Wade kicked Sessions early in the fourth quarter in Wednesday night's meeting between the teams.
The league described the one-game suspension without pay as punishment for Wade, "flailing his leg and making contact with [Sessions's] groin."
With the Heat up four points with just more than eight minutes remaining in the game, Sessions fouled Wade as he was bringing the ball up the court. Wade was visibly unhappy with the swipe, and extended his leg to Sessions almost immediately. Wade was not called for a foul on the play, and the Heat eventually ran away with the victory, 105-92.
Wade is averaging 20.2 points and 4.6 assists per game for the Heat this season.
