The Memphis Grizzlies have held preliminary trade talks over the past few weeks centered on Rudy Gay, according to sources.
John Hollinger and Jason Levien have recently joined the Grizzlies' front office, while Chris Wallace's level of influence on personnel decisions is unclear.
Gay signed an $84 million contract in 2010 and is making $16.4 million this season.
Gay's name also surfaced in trade rumors before the 2012 NBA Draft.

The two deals I've heard of around the league are Milsap for Gay base, or a Monta Ellis for Gay base. Neither of which I like much for Memphis.

Who would they get that's better at the SF position than Gay?
I don't think it's about getting better at SF because Gay is one of the best at his position today. but since the Grizzlies are a small-market team taking on 3 max contracts, it's about adding depth and financial flexibility.
