here's what my top 10 would look like without kobe:

1.) michael jordan
2.) magic johnson
3.) larry bird
4.) kareem abdul-jabbar
5.) wilt chamberlain
6.) bill russell
7.) oscar robertson
8.) hakeem olajuwon
9.) shaquille o'neal
10.) tim duncan

if you think kobe belongs here, what adjustments would you make to include him?

or is the list fine the way it is?

Yep. Based on legacy and accomplishments idk how you don't have him top 10, but after he retires and people begin to miss him then opinions will probably change.

He is top 10 if you look at accomplishments and longevity.

If you look at talent, impact and dominance during prime, then he's not in my list

My criteria are more based on dominance and impact during prime.
I don't really have a list as I think it's too difficult to decide what to take into account and how important each criteria should be.

Jordan, Kareem, Wilt, Bill, Shaq, Hakeem, Oscar, West, Bird and Magic (at least) were better players than Kobe in their prime.
But if you want to rank legacy (=accomplishments, totals), Kobe is above many guys.
If you want to take both into account, then, Kobe is probably in the tail of the top 10.

LeBron is better than Kobe ever was as well and I think Durant will be as well.
You can say that about Paul as well.

I think he is top 10...IMO he did too much not to be...I don't think that LeBron is better than Kobe ever was,I can't say that for any player in todays game. He is what he is he will jack up as much as he wants to,or turn it over often but hewill games and rings and he is top 10...
A lot of people list Shaq better than Kobe IMO he is not...Shaq was always as one-way player as they get...Kobe was at times,in championship runs unstopable...
I mean My top 3 for sure looks like this.
1.MJ
2.Magic
3.Bird
the rest would look like(in no order...Altho Hakeem is my favorite)
Kareem
Hakeem
Wilt
Kobe
The Big O
Dr.J
Malone/The Worm

P.S I use the avatar only because I think it's cool and not because Im a Kobe fanboy....

He's top 10 on my all time list (considering skill/talent, intangibles, prime/peak, longevity, dominance, accomplishments, accolades, teammates and competition, stats, rules...)

1. Jordan
2. Kareem
3. Bird
4. Magic
5. Wilt
6. Russell
7. Shaq
8. Hakeem
9. Duncan
10. Kobe

Like said above, as far as peak/prime overall player (skill, talent, intagibles, dominance, stats), that's a different story...

Yes. How many players in NBA history have 30,000+ points and 5 championships?

I don't understand the "he wasn't dominant enough" argument. Some of the scoring feats he accomplished in his career have only been done by guys like Wilt and Jordan.

How many players have led the league in FGA 5 times but only won 2 scoring titles?

HIGHEST REASONABLE RANK: 7TH

LOWEST REASONABLE RANK: 15TH

I usually have him at 10th or 11th all time.

I have the same top 10 players as you, except I have Kobe 10th, Oscar 11th or sometimes the opposite.
