Could Mike Woodson Be on the Hot Seat for the New York Knicks?

New York, NY - The New York Knicks have started the season very slow and the fans are becoming very disgruntled. There are very high expectations for this group of guys that have been put together, and if things don’t begin shaping up, head coach Mike Woodson could be the one to pay the price. According to Alex Kennedy of HoopsWorld, Woodson could very well be on the hot seat in New York.

MikeWoodsonHotseatHN2The Knicks were bounced from the NBA Playoffs last season by the Indiana Pacers in six games, and the issues started there for Woodson. Many fans questioned his rotations and his ability to coach a championship contending team, and his track record certainly doesn’t help him.

Starting the season at just 2-4 and the lack of defense once again is a very concerning issue for the Knicks’ organization. Whether or not it is Woodson’s fault or the teams fault, someone has to pay and it usually winds up being the head coach first. There is no question as to whether or not the Knicks have the necessary talent to compete, but they just don’t seem to be connected together. Carmelo Anthony has put up decent scoring numbers, but once again he appears unwilling to work with his teammates to get open looks.

The injury concerns for both Tyson Chandler and J.R. Smith don’t help either, but playing through injuries are a part of the NBA. Mike Woodson needs to figure out how to get his guys together and winning basketball games, or he could be looking for a new job within the next month or two. One thing is for sure, if the Knicks miss the playoffs, he will be fired.

Not only are the Knicks struggling defensively, but they’re only scoring 93 points per game, which is the second-worst in the Eastern Conference. If the Knicks aren’t going to play defense, they will have to score the basketball at a much higher clip to win games. Whether it’s a lack of teamwork or being unable to play without Chandler and Smith, something has to change.
