Derrick Williams Headed to Sacramento Kings

Sacramento, CA - According to Yahoo! Sports, the Sacramento Kings and Minnesota Timberwolves have agreed to a trade that will send Derrick Williams to the Kings in exchange for Luc Richard Mbah a Moute. The Wolves have been looking to trade Williams for the past couple weeks, but this was a trade that not many people were expecting.

Minnesota has been searching for players that they believe will help solidify them as legitimate contenders in the Western Conference this year. Many don’t feel that Mbah a Moute is going to be that type of player, but he is a very underrated player. His defense is top notch and he’s been improving his offensive game quite a bit over the last couple of seasons.

So far this year with the Kings, he is averaging 4.4 points and 3.0 rebounds per game. He hasn’t exactly had the biggest role, but he’s making the most of it when he gets the chance. Obviously this wasn’t the player that many expected that the Wolves could get for Williams, but they feel that he will be a good addition for them on the defensive side of the basketball. Only time will tell just how good this deal is for Minnesota.

The Kings are getting a former #2 overall draft pick in Williams and could be getting an absolute steal. The

y have been looking to stock up on young, talented players and Williams fits that description very well. While he hasn’t reached his full potential with the Wolves, he certainly still has the talent and the chance to figure things out. Perhaps a change of scenery is exactly what he needs to make things happen to turn his career around.

Overall, both teams feel like they got a good return with this trade. The Kings are getting a player with a load of potential while the Wolves are getting a more veteran player that can help on the defensive side of the basketball. It will be very interesting to see how both of these teams end up after this trade.
