The Miami Heat have signed Greg Oden to a two-year deal worth the leagues minimum. The second year of Oden’s contract comes with a player option, in case he has a dominating season and plans to opt out for a much larger contract.
The 25-year-old has only played 82 games since being drafted by the Blazers in 2007. However, he has proven to be effective when healthy. Oden, who was originally drafted before Kevin Durant, has averaged 9.4 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game.
During an interview with ESPN, Oden just called the Miami Heat “the best place for me … the best fit.” His second option was the New Orleans Pelicans, who have recently turned into a young, dangerous squad with the additions of Jrue Holiday and Tyreke Evans.
