The Miami Heat have signed Michael Beasley to a non-guaranteed contract worth a bit over $1 million.
Beasley was originally selected by the Miami Heat with their #2 selection in the 2008 draft. In two seasons with the Miami Heat, Beasley averaged about 14 points, 6 rebounds and 1 steal. With LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh alongside Beasley, he should have a much easier time creating shots for himself.
The 24-year-old youngster is an extremely talented player, but has had a ton of issues off the court, specifically with the use of marijuana. Earlier this off-season, Beasley was arrested in Arizona due to drug possession. This may be why his former team, the Phoenix Suns, decided to waive him off their roster.
Now playing for Pat Riley and the Miami Heat, who have won two championships in a row, Beasley is expected to have his head in the right place. We highly doubt that teammates LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh would let Beasley get into much trouble.
Beasley signed with the Phoenix Suns last off-season, after the Minnesota Timberwolves decided to let him walk away. The Suns decided to cut Beasley from their squad after trading Caron Butler for cap space.
