LeBron James Considering NBPA President Role

nba_a_lbj_cr_576The National Basketball Players Association is a labor union created to represent athletes from the National Basketball Association. They have been around since 1954, which makes their labor union older than MLB’s, NFL’s, and NHL’s. Just recently, they battled against the NBA franchise owners while trying to come up with a new Collective Bargaining Agreement. The current president is Derek Fisher. His partners are: Jerry Stackhouse, James Jones, Matt Bonner, Stephen Curry, Willie Green, Andre Iguodala, Roger Mason Jr. and Chris Paul.

With all that being said, King James wants to run for presidency for the players association, according to Jason Whitlock from Fox Sports. “It’s something he has talked about with a small group of people,” quoted a source close to James. “There is a new executive director coming in and new commissioner. He recognizes that this is the time for the union to change.”
