The Miami Heat and their Big Three obviously have their undivided attention on the NBA Finals. However, ESPN reports that Miami’s front office and star players are trying to figure out a way to bring in potential free agent Carmelo Anthony aboard.
If LeBron James, Chris Bosh and/or Dwyane Wade take a pay cut, Miami will likely have enough cap flexibility to sign Anthony to a large deal. However, the Knicks will be able to offer Anthony a much more attractive contract.
Via ESPN: Sources told ESPN.com that Heat officials and the team’s leading players have already started to explore their options for creating sufficient financial flexibility to make an ambitious run at adding New York Knicks scoring machine Carmelo Anthony this summer in free agency.
Erik Spoelstra could have Anthony play his natural position by moving James to the power forward position and starting Bosh at center. If Anthony decides to sacrifice a few million dollars and take his talents to South Beach, Miami’s new star power will arguably be the greatest of all-time. Anthony has also been considering the Bulls, Rockets and Mavericks.
