Billy Hunter was fired by the players of the National Basketball Association on Saturday.
Via NYTimes: “The dismissal came only five weeks after the release of an independent audit that faulted Hunter’s business and hiring practices, including accusations of nepotism and abuse of union resources for personal gain. Although the audit, conducted by the law firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, found no criminal wrongdoing, it concluded that Hunter had put his own interests ahead of the union’s.”
Derek Fisher was one of the many players who pushed to put an end to Hunter’s long career, which began in 1996.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the NBPA player rep vote on the removal of Billy Hunter was 24-0.
