Nelson: Mavs Unlikely To Make Changes

O.J. MayoDuring an interview with Dwain Price of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the Mavericks GM said it’s unlikely that the Mavericks will make any moves before the February 21 NBA trade deadline. According to Donnie Nelson, Dallas will only pull the trigger if there is an “over the top” deal available.

Via Full-Court Press: “I don’t think this team needs more change unless there’s good reasons for it,” said Nelson, the Mavs’ president of basketball operations. “We’ve got nine new faces and Dirk (Nowitzki) kind of in the lineup, then out of the lineup, then in the lineup.”

Further into the interview, the Mavs GM stated that they need to settle things down in order to make a run at the playoffs. At this point, it seems like they would rather not mess with their teams chemistry, unless there is a huge deal on the table that favors the Mavericks. Despite Donnie Nelson’s quotes, a Mavs deal is anticipated, since Cuban is willing to do whatever it takes to get his franchise back into championship-bound shape.
