According to ESPN’s Marc Stein, the Toronto Raptors are interested in bringing Vince Carter, also known as “Air Canada,” back to town:
Word is that the Raptors have been kicking around the idea of making a free-agent play this summer to try to bring Vince Carter “home” by trying to sign the former face of the franchise away from the Mavericks.
However, Vince Carter seems to be very happy in a Mavericks jersey. Sources league-wide expect to see Vince Carter back in Dallas. His chemistry with Dirk Nowitzki and the rest of the squad seems to be impeccable.
Vince Carter averaged 11.9 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game throughout the 2013-14 season. His leadership was extremely important for the Mavericks, who were only one game away from advancing against the first seed.
Vince Carter and the Mavericks ended their season in a blowout game-seven loss to the San Antonio Spurs. On a positive note, this team exceeded everyones expectations and gave the Spurs a run for their money.
With the free agency period on its way, the Mavericks expect to make a splash and compete once more. Before pursuing big names like Carmelo Anthony or Chris Bosh, the Dallas Mavericks have to retain their own list of free-agents, such as Dirk Nowitzki, Vince Carter, DeJuan Blair, Shawn Marion and Devin Harris. Fortunately for Mark Cuban and the Mavericks, it seems like all of their players want to return.
