The Phoenix Suns have traded Caron Butler to the Milwaukee Bucks, in exchange for Ish Smith and Slava Kravtsov.
Just two months after being traded to Phoenix, Butler asked the Suns organization to trade him to Milwaukee, since he wanted to play for his home-state team.
The Bucks may absorb most of Butler’s expiring contract, since they have $7.5 million cap space available.
Caron Butler, 33, averaged 10.4 points per game for the Clippers last season. He shot 42.4% from the field, and 38.8% from the three-point line. The veteran is expected to bring leadership and experience to the rebuilding Milwaukee Bucks franchise.
On the other end, the Phoenix Suns are expected to use their newly acquired cap space to waive Michael Beasley.
The 25-year-old Ish Smith averaged 2.4 points, 1.7 assists and 1.2 rebounds per game last season in limited minutes. Slava Kravtsov averaged 3.1 points and 1.8 rebounds per game while shooting 71.7% from the field. He only played 25 games for the Detroit Pistons, and averaged 9.0 minutes per game.
