Oklahoma City, OK - According to Sam Amico of Fox Sports Ohio, the Oklahoma City Thunder are open to trading Jeremy Lamb. The Thunder have been looking to move Lamb for a more consistent and experienced bench player. They aren’t looking to trade him just to make a trade, but they could net a very good return for the talented young shooting guard.
Through 19 games with the Thunder this season, Lamb has been averaging 8.9 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game. Those numbers are not what the Thunder need from one of their best bench pieces if they want to contend for a title this year, so they are looking to make a move to upgrade their bench. At this time, there are no potential destinations for Lamb, but there will be quite a bit of interest in him.
One team to keep an eye on would be the Philadelphia 76ers in a trade involving Evan Turner. The Thunder have been linked to Turner already this season, so it would make sense for both teams to swap talented players that need a new place to play. Philadelphia would likely be very happy to acquire a player with the talent that Lamb has, so that is certainly a potential trade destination to keep an eye on.
The Thunder were expecting Lamb to step up and fit into the sixth man role well and be a primary scorer off the bench, but that just hasn’t been the case so far this year. They do have Reggie Jackson playing well off the bench which has helped them out quite a bit but they need Lamb to step up and be consistent each and every night.
It’s certainly not a done deal that the Thunder will move Jeremy Lamb in the coming weeks, but it is something to keep an eye on. Oklahoma City believes that they are in a position where they can win a championship this season and their bench will be a major reason why. They are looking for any way to improve their roster, and moving Lamb could be one of the best ways to do just that.
